Job Interview Humor

While prepping for my interview tomorrow I ran across this video of what not to do/say. And, yes I was actually doing prep work on youtube.

Hiking - Easy Pass

Decided to go up to the Cascades for the first time this year. I was originally planning to do a couple day backpacking trip but decided to take it easy and just do a day hike. I selected 'Easy' Pass, which unlike its name is not easy. Its only 3 miles one way but goes straight up to the pass, almost 3000 ft of elevation gain. I'm hoping to have lunch at the pass, take some pictures and then head back. The main reason I selected this trail was because its' right off of highway 20 on the eastern side, meaning that I get to drive 20 through the whole park which is supposed to be a great drive. Time to go to be do I can get up at the crack of dawn.

More to the eye there meets

Went and watched Transformers last night at a midnight showing in downtown Seattle. It was the first time I'd been in a movie theater in about 6 months. We went Cinirama in Belltown and have to say its one of the better theaters I've been in, huge screen, clear sound, and a balcony!

Overall the movie was excellent, no show stopping failures or glaring plot holes. Great action and CGI work. The script is funny with a bit of eighties cartoon humor but updated for the now 30 somethings who are watching it.

Mac vs. PC Remix

There are number of Mac vs. PC spoof videos out in the ether these days. Some of them are hilarious, some are just lame. The above video has two important points going for it.

Tahoe Fire

The fire in Tahoe has been burning for a couple of days now. Although I probably won't visit the area for some time I used to be a frequent visitor. In fact I've been hiking and snow shoeing at Fallen Leaf lake which is the main area hit by this fire. It is/was beautiful country, a shame that it went up so fast. Hopefully it will be contained before it reaches the main ‘urban’ portion of South Lake. Here is CNN's interactive map. CNN's interactive map.

Goople

It was officially announced today that the upcoming iPhone will be youtube compatible. What does this mean you ask?

Practically speaking you'll see a lot more people sneaking around trying to find free wifi to get their video fix. But it also raises the question of how closely Apple and Google have been working together, especially since the iPhone doesn't support flash video. Somehow Apple has convinced youtube to provide H.264 versions of all their videos instead of the flash video they use for the rest of the web. Now this is consistent with Apple's operating procedure but its interesting that Google agreed. Do they think the iPhone will be that big of a market for youtube? Is it setting the stage to incorporate youtube into iTunes?

Stones Throw Away

The video is a little long, most interesting portion starts at 1:20. Why is this up? Read on...

Drupal or Bust

So I finally got around to setting up Drupal on the server. I've been meaning to switch to it for a while now. The other blogging software I as using was ok but nothing to write home about. And no I didn't copy Chris, well maybe a little. I'm contemplating whether or not its worth the time to migrate the old posts. I guess if I get bored some night it would be a good project but right now I think their going to stay put.

The new site is still taking shape. I'm including my little bro this time around, two meyrs are better than one after all.
