International Man of Misery

Ahhhh you can't go wrong with dick cheney jokes. No, really you can't. The only thing I regret about not having cable in the new house is the DailyShow, good thing we have the Internets. If you missed it, here's one of the highlights from this week, and yes it starts with Dick Cheney.

Spring can wait a few more days

Looks like I was wrong about the whole spring thing.  Its still on a holding pattern, albeit running low on fuel.  There was snow in the hills last night, in fact NPR said there was a blizzard going on this morning up on one of the passes.  And just to rub it in my face some more below is tonights weather forecast.

Spring Has Landed

Well I think its official, spring arrived over this weekend.

AV Upgrade

So long TV!

Hello projector. Yes we finaly finally made the move from CRT/LCD/Plasma, whatever, to the shear sheer delight that is the overhead projector. Pictures will eventually be posted but sufice suffice to say all is right with the AV gods.

Yes the projector is only 720p. But as was pointed out by a friend it is 1/3 the cost of the 1080p version, and you know in a year the 1080p version will be the same price as the 720p. Besides our couch is 20' away from the screen, maybe Lisa's bionic eyes can tell the difference, but sure as hell can't.

Oh and to crissen christen this new system we HAD to get a next gen dvd player, but that will be the next post.

WTF? Rowling

What! Dumbledore was gay! ... wait, I care about this because...

All Your Avatar Needs

This tool lets you upload a picture and skin it on a 3D model to make an avatar that looks like you or whichever supermodel you fancy. You can then make it say different things with a less then optimized voice engine. When done you can upload it to myspace if you choose to use that poison.

Jonathan one of my friends up here in Seattle posted this today, he has dove head first into the blog, social networking world for his summer internship. Glad he's keeping it up even at the tail end.

Long Time No Blog

Ahhh its been a month and a day since my last post. What the hell happened. Work, travel, and life in general. Not really an excuse but I'll take what I can get.

Fair Game

Fair Game has become my staple daily news/entertainment intake. Not unlike the Daily Show was before we got rid of the cable (sacrilege I know). It is very similar in flavor, news, satire, guests, satire, analysis, did I mention satire. I find the show more fresh, raw, and unrefined (in a good way) than say the daily show or other similar outlets. Not to say that it is not professionally done, it’s just more genuine. No team of writers here, just a couple of people making it up as they go. Not to mention a smart well spoken host.

Unfortunately I’ve never managed to tune into the localvaffiliate radio station so it continues to be a purely internet relationship, not that that’s a bad thing.

Social Networking Again

After much coercing and bribing I was finally convinced to dive into another social networking site. Ok really I got a couple of good recommendations from friends that this site would actually be fun and useful.

Napa Napa Napa Napa

Kevin accompanied me down to the Bay Area weekend before last. Lisa picked us up at SFO and we headed out to the East Bay to hang out with Julie for the evening. Saturday we all crammed into the rental and cruised through Napa. After wine and food we headed back into San Francisco. Sunday was Dim Sum and flight back to Seattle.

Things learned on this trip.

-You can legally fit four people into a Mitsubishi Eclipse but you really don't want to.

-The Kaiser Chief's song 'Ruby' is apparently the official song of the summer.
